The point is not the monitor, it is the desk underneath it. Clamping the screen to the edge gives back the whole footprint the stand was eating. Measure your desk edge thickness first, because the clamp has a limit.
It lights the desk without lighting the screen, which is the one thing a desk lamp cannot do. If you work after dark this does more for eye strain than any setting in your display menu.
